Ananyaaschinthayantho mam
ye janah paryupaasathe
Thesham nithyaabhiyukthanam
yogakshemam vahaamyaham

Lord Krishna says that I shall take care of the well being, and welfare of that bhaktha who nurtures no other thought than me. He depends on nobody but Me. Those who always think of Me, who always hold on to my feet, I take care of their yoga and kshema.” Yoga means attaining the unattainable. Kshemam means to keep safe that which is attained. Only these two are needed in life.

karmanye vadhika raste,
Ma phaleshu kadachana;
ma karma phala he tur bhuh,
ma te sangvasta karmani

To action alone hast thou a right and never at all to its fruits; let not the fruits of action be thy motive; neither let there be in thee any attachment to inaction.


patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktyâ prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnâmi prayatâtmanah

God will accept anything you offer with love and devotion, be it a leaf, a flower or water. The spiritual meaning of this means the body of the devotee should be the leaf, the flower is the heart and the water is tears of joy. We have to offer only these three.

yogasthah kuru karmani
sangam tyaktvaa dhanamjaya
siddhy asiddhyoh samo bhutvaa
samatvam yoga ucyate

Do your duty to the best of your ability, O Arjuna, with your mind attached to the Lord, abandoning worry and selfish attachment to the results, and remaining calm in both success and failure. Equanimity of the mind is called Karma-yoga.

yatra yogesvarah krsno
yatra pârtho dhanur-dharah
tatra srîr vijayo bhûtir
dhruvâ nîtir matir mama

I am convinced that wherever there is the Lord Krishna and Arjuna carrying the bow and arrows, there opulence, victory, great power and morality are always assured.


yada yada hi dharmasya
glanir bhavati bharata
abhyutthanam adharmasya
tadatmanam srjamy aham

Whenever and wherever there is decline of dharma (righteousness) and ascendance of adharma (unrighteousness), at that time I manifest Myself in visible form. For the protection of the righteous and destruction of the wicked, and for the sake of establishing dharma again, I incarnate Myself on earth ages after ages.

Paritranaya sadhunam
vinashaya cha dushkritam.
Dharma sansthapanarthaya
sambhavami yuge yuge.

For the up-liftment of the good and virtuous,
For the destruction of evil,
For the re-establishment of the natural law,
I will come, in every age

bîjam mâm sarva-bhûtânâm
viddhi pârtha sanâtanam
buddhir buddhimatâm asmi
tejas tejasvinâm aham

I am present as the seed in all the living beings.
Know Me as the eternal seed of all beings.


srî bhagavân uvâca
imam vivasvate yogam
proktavân aham avyayam
vivasvân manave prâha
manur iksvâkave 'bravît

God spoke: "Arjuna, I am unborn, I am infinite, I am omniscient and omnipresent. I have neither beginning nor an end".

yogasthah kuru karmani
sangam tyaktva dhanamjaya
siddhy asiddhyoh samo bhutva
samatvam yoga ucyate

Do your duty to the best of your ability, O Arjuna,
with your mind attached to the Lord, abandoning
worry and selfish attachment to the results, and
remaining calm in both success and failure.
Equanimity of the mind is called Karma-yoga.

duhkhesv anudvignamanah
sukhesu vigatasprhah
vita raga bhaya krodhah
sthitadhir munir ucyate

A person whose mind is unperturbed by sorrow,
who does not crave pleasures, and who is
completely free from attachment, fear, and anger,
is called Sthita-prajna - a sage of steady intellect.


yada samharate cayam
kurmo 'nganiva sarvasah
indriyanindriyarthebhyas
tasya prajna pratisthita

When one can completely withdraw the senses from
sense objects, as a tortoise withdraws its limbs into the
shell for protection, then the intellect of such a person is
considered steady.

visaya vinivartante
niraharasya dehinah
rasa-varjam raso 'py asya
param drstva nivartate

The desire for sensual pleasures fades away if one
abstains from sense enjoyment, but the craving for sense
enjoyment remains. The craving also disappears from one
who has known the Supreme Being.

tani sarvani samyamya yukta
asita matparah
vase hi yasyendriyani
tasya prajna pratishita

One should fix one’s mind on Me with loving
contemplation after bringing the senses under
control. One’s intellect becomes steady when one’s
senses are under complete control.


dhyayato vishayan pumsah
sangas teshupajayate
sangat sanjayate kamah
kamat krodho bhijayate

One develops attachment to sense objects by thinking about sense objects. Desire for sense objects comes from attachment to sense objects, and anger comes from unfulfilled desires.

vihaya kaman yah sarvan
pumamsh carati nihsprihah
nirmamo nirahankarah
sa shantim adhigacchati

It is only those who give up all desires and wander free from hankering, false ego and possessiveness who attain peace.

esha brahmi sthitih partha
nainam prapya vimuhyati
sthitvasyam anta-kale .pi
brahma-nirvanam ricchati

O Partha, attaining brahma in this way is called brahmi sthitih. After attaining this state, one is no longer deluded. If, at the time of death, one is situated in this consciousness even for a moment, he attains brahma-nirvana.


karma brahmodbhavam viddhi
brahmaksara-samudbhavam
tasmat sarva-gatam brahma
nityam yajne pratisthitam

Regulated activities are prescribed in the Vedas, and the Vedas are directly manifested from the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Consequently the all-pervading Transcendence is eternally situated in acts of sacrifice.
The living beings are born from food grains; grains are produced by rain; rain comes (as a favor from Devas) if duty (Karma) is performed as a selfless service (Seva, Yajna)

evam pravartitam cakram
nanuvartayatiha yah
aghayur indriyaramo mogham
partha sa jivati

One who does not help to keep the wheel of creation in motion by sacrificial duty (Seva) and who rejoices in sense pleasures, that sinful person lives in vain, O Arjuna.

tasmad asaktah satatam
karyam karma samacara
asakto hy acaran karma
param apnoti purusah

Therefore, always perform your duty efficiently and without any selfish attachment to the results because by doing work without attachment one attains the Supreme Being.


karmanaiva hi samsiddhim
asthita janakadayah
lokasamgraham evapi
sampasyan kartum arhasi

King Janaka and others attained perfection (or Self-realization) by selfless service (Karma-yoga) alone. You also should perform your duty with a view to guide people and for the universal welfare of society.

prakrteh kriyamanani
gunaih karmani sarvasah
ahankara-vimudhatma
kartaham iti manyate

All work is done by the energy and power of nature, but due to delusion of ignorance, people assume themselves to be the doer.

mayi sarvani karmani
sannyasyadhyatma-cetasa
nirasir nirmamo bhutva
yudhyasva vigata-jvarah

Do your duty, dedicating all work to Me in a spiritual frame of mind, free from desire, attachment, and mental grief. The Lord instructs that one has to become fully Krishna conscious to discharge duties. One has to sacrifice everything for the good will of the Lord Krishna, and at the same time discharge prescribed duties without any desires or attachments.

indriyasyendriyasyarthe
raga-dvesau vyavasthitau
tayor na vasam agacchet
tau hy asya paripanthinau

Likes and dislikes for sense objects are felt by embodied beings, but one should not fall under the control of senses and sense objects because they are stumbling blocks on the path of self-realization.

indriyani mano buddhir
asyadhisthanam ucyate
etair vimohayaty esa
jnanam avrtya dehinam

The senses, the mind, and the intellect are said to be the seat of lust (Kama). Kama controlling the senses, the mind, and the intellect deludes a person by veiling Self-knowledge (Jnana).

tasmat tvam indriyanyadau
niyamya bharatarshabha
papmanam prajahi hyenam
jnana vijnana nashanam

Therefore, O Arjuna, by controlling the senses first, kill this devil of material desire that destroys Self-knowledge and Self-realization.


indriyani parany ahur
indriyebhyah param manah
manasas tu para buddhir yo
buddheh paratas tu sah

The senses are said to be superior to the body; the mind is superior to the senses; the intellect is superior to the mind; and atma (Spirit) is superior to the intellect.

evam buddheh param buddhva
samstabhyatmanam atmana
jahi satrum maha-baho
kama-rupam durasadam

Thus, knowing the Self (atma) to be superior to the intellect and controlling the mind by the intellect (that is purified by spiritual practices), one must kill this mighty enemy, lust (Kama), O Arjuna.

janma karma ca me divyam
evam yo vetti tattvatah
tyaktva deham punarjanma
naiti mam eti so’rjuna

One who truly understands My transcendental appearance and activities (of creation, maintenance, and dissolution), attains My supreme abode and is not born again after
leaving this body, O Arjuna.


vita raga bhaya krodha
manmaya mam upasritah
bahavo jnana tapasa
puta mad bhavam agatah

Many have become free from attachment, fear, anger, and attained salvation (Mukti) by taking refuge in Me, becoming fully absorbed in My thoughts, and becoming purified by the fire of Self-knowledge.

karmany akarma yah pasyed
akarmani ca karma yah
sa buddhiman manusyesu
sa yuktah krtsnakarmakrt

One who sees inaction in action and action in inaction, is a wise person. Such a person is a yogi and has accomplished everything.

yasya sarve samarambhah
kama-sankalpa-varjitah
jnanagni-dagdha-karmanam
tam ahuh panditam budhah

One whose desires have become selfless by being roasted in the fire of Self-knowledge is called a sage by the wise. Person in Krishna consciousness is devoid of all kinds of sense-gratificatory propensities, and is to be understood that he has burned up the karma by perfect knowledge.


tyaktva karmaphalasangam
nityatriptnirashrayah
karmanyabhipravritto'pi
naiva kinchit karoti sah

One who has abandoned selfish attachment to the fruits of work and remains ever content and dependent on no one but God, such a person though engaged in activity does nothing at all, and incurs no Karmic reaction.

yadrccha-labha-santusto
dvandvatito vimatsarah
samah siddhav asiddhau ca
krtvapi na nibadhyate

He who is satisfied with gain which comes by the will of the God, who is free from duality and does not envy, who is steady both in success and failure, although engaged in work such a Karma-yogi is not bound by Karma.

Gatasangasya muktasya
jnanavasthita-cetasah
yajnayacharatah karma
samagram praviliyate

All Karmic bonds of a philanthropic person (Karma-yogi) who is free from attachment, whose mind is fixed in Self-knowledge, and who does work as a service to the Lord dissolves away.


Brahma 'rpanam Brahma havir
Brahmagnau Brahmana hutam
Brahmai'va tena gantavyam
Brahmakarmasamadhina

Eternal Being (Brahma) is the oblation. Brahma is the clarified butter. The oblation is poured by Brahma into the fire of Brahma. Brahma shall be realized by one who considers everything as (a manifestation or) an act of Brahma.

sreyan dravya-mayad yajnaj
jnana-yajnah parantapa
sarvam karmakhilam partha
jnane parisamapyate

The knowledge sacrifice is superior to any material sacrifice, O Arjuna, because all actions in their entirety culminate in knowledge.

tad viddhi pranipatena
pariprasnena sevaya
upadeksyanti te jnanam
jnaninas tattva-darshinah

Acquire this transcendental knowledge from a Self-realized person by humble reverence, by sincere inquiry, and by service. The wise ones who have realized the Truth will teach you.


yathaidhamsi samiddho ’gnir
bhasma-sat kurute ’rjuna
jnanagnih sarva-karmani
bhasma-sat kurute tatha

As the blazing fire reduces wood to ashes, similarly, the fire of Self-knowledge (Brahma-jnana) reduces all bonds of Karma to ashes, O Arjuna.

na hi jnanena sadrsam
pavitram iha vidyate
tat svayam yoga-samsiddhah
kalenatmani vindati

In this world, there is nothing so sublime and pure as transcendental knowledge. Such knowledge is the mature fruit of all mysticism. And one who has become accomplished in the practice of devotional service enjoys this knowledge within himself in due course of time.

shraddhaval labhate jnanam
tat-parah samyatendriyah
jnanam labdhva param shantim
acirenadhigacchati

"A faithful man who is dedicated to transcendental knowledge and who subdues his senses is eligible to achieve such knowledge, and having achieved it he quickly attains the supreme spiritual peace."


Yogayukto visuddhatma
vijitatma jitendriyah,
sarvabhutatmabhutatma
kurvannapi na lipyate

A Karma-yogi whose mind is pure, whose mind and senses are under control, and who sees one and the same Eternal Being (Brahma) in all beings, is not bound by Karma though engaged in work.

jñānena tu tad ajñānaṁ
yeṣāṁ nāśitam ātmanaḥ
teṣām ādityavaj jñānaṁ
prakāśayati tat param

Transcendental knowledge destroys the ignorance of the Self and reveals the Supreme, just as the sun reveals the beauty of objects of the world.

tadbuddhayas tadatmanas
tannisthas tatparayanah
gacchanty apunaravrttim
jnananirdhutakalmasah

Persons whose mind and intellect are totally merged in Eternal Being (Brahma), who are firmly devoted to Brahma, who have Brahma as their supreme goal and sole refuge, and whose impurities are destroyed by the knowledge of Brahma, do not take birth again.


vidyavinayasampanne
brahmane gavi hastini
suni cai 'va svapake ca
panditah samadarsinah

An enlightened person (by perceiving the Lord in all) looks at a learned and humble Brahmana, an outcast, even a cow, an elephant, or a dog with an equal eye.

yo 'ntahsukho 'ntararamas tatha
'ntarjyotir eva yah
sa yogi brahmanirvanam
brahmabhuto 'dhigacchati

One who finds happiness with the Eternal Being (Brahma), who rejoices Brahma within, and who is illuminated by Self-knowledge such a yogi attains Brahma-nirvana and goes to the Supreme Being (Para-Brahma).

yatendriyamanobuddhir
munir moksaparayanah
vigatecchabhayakrodho
yah sada mukta eva sah

A sage is, in truth, liberated by renouncing all sense enjoyments, fixing the eyes and the mind (at an imaginary black dot) between the eye brows, equalizing the breath moving through the nostrils (by Kriya techniques), keeping the senses, mind, and intellect under control, having salvation (Mukti) as the prime goal, and becoming free from lust, anger, and fear.


bhoktaram yajnatapasam
sarvaloka mahesvaram
suhrdam sarvabhutanam
jnatva mam santim rcchati

My devotee attains peace by knowing Me (or Sri Krishna, the Supreme Being (Para-Brahma)) as the enjoyer of sacrifices and austerities, as the great Lord of all the universe, and the friend of all beings.

jitatmanah prasantasya
paramatma samahitah
sitosna-sukha-duhkhesu
tatha manapamanayoh

One who has control over the lower self, the mind and senses is tranquil in heat and cold, in pleasure and pain, and in honor and dishonor, and remains ever steadfast with the supreme Self.

jnana-vijnana-trptatma
kuta-stho vijitendriyah
yukta ity ucyate yogi
sama-lostrasma-kancanah

A person is called yogi who has both Self-knowledge and Self-realization, who is tranquil, who has control over the mind and senses, and to whom a clod, a stone, and gold are the same.


suhRin mitraar yudaasiina
madhyastha dveshhya bandhushhu .
saadhushhv api cha paapeshhu
samabuddhir vishishhyate

A person is considered superior who is impartial toward companions, friends, enemies, neutrals, arbiters, haters, relatives, saints, and sinners.

yada viniyatam cittam
atmany eva’vatisthate
nihsprhah sarvakamebhyo
yukta ity ucyate tada

A person is said to have achieved yoga, union with the Eternal Being (Brahma), when the perfectly disciplined mind becomes free from all desires and completely united
with Brahma in Samadhi (Trance).

sukham atyantikam yat tad
buddhigrahyam atindriyam
vetti yatra na caivayam
sthitas calati tattvatah

One feels infinite bliss that is perceivable only through the intellect and is beyond the reach of the senses. After realizing the Eternal Being (Brahma), one is never separated from Absolute Reality.


sarva-dharmân parityajya
mâm ekam saranam vraja
aham tvâm sarva-pâpebhyo
moksayisyâmi mâ sucah

Lord Krishna said: Give up all dharma and seek my refuge, I shall grant Moksa (liberation from the cycle of birth and dead).

Loka Samastha Sukinou Bhavanthu


Meaning: May all the beings in all the worlds be happy.

Asatoma Sadgamaya
Thamaso Maa Jyothir Gamaya
Mrithyor Maa Amrutham Gamaya
Aum Shanti Shanti Shantihi

Meaning: Lead me from the unreal to the real. Lead me from darkness to light. Lead me from death to immortality. May there be peace everywhere.
